Abbal Koirala, MD, is a nephrologist and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle. He is actively involved in teaching, clinical practice, and research. Originally from Kathmandu, Nepal, he completed his fellowships in Clinical Nephrology and Glomerulonephritis at the University of Washington, Seattle. Starting from August 2024, he will join Johns Hopkins University as the Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology and an Associate Director of the Hopkins Glomerulonephritis and Vasculitis Clinic. He currently serves as the site PI for Iptacopan for IgAN and Inaxaplin for APOL1 nephropathy. His clinical and research interests are in the management of complex glomerular diseases.
